Short biography: Dr. John Maris is the President of Marinvent Corporation and the CTO of Aeras Sensor Technologies Inc. John is a professional aeronautical engineer, aerodynamicist, and experimental test pilot with a doctorate in human factors and aviation safety. He has led numerous flight test and windtunnel programs related to aerodynamic performance optimization in icing conditions, including several years of pioneering work with Canada’s Nergica experimental wind turbine institute. Among numerous awards, John has received an Aviation Week and Space Technology Laureate and Canada’s oldest aeronautical prize – the Trans-Canada (McKee) trophy – for his research contributions. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots. John is a keen family man and highly values his newest role as a grandfather to wonderful Greyson. John and his partner Nancy have also taken up the cause of rehabilitating retired greyhounds, and recently adopted Iris, a magnificent Spanish Galgo. Dr. John Maris was inducted into the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame in June, 2018.
