Göran Ronsten
Göran Ronsten holds a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and an MBA from Stockholm School of Economics. He’s carried out wind energy research for 20 years at the Aeronautical Research Institute of Sweden (FFA) and the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI).
In 2007 Göran started his own consulting company WindREN and has, among other tasks worked as wind project manager on behalf of the private developer OX2 until 2015.
He’s been the Swedish representative to IEA RD&D Wind, Task 19 – Wind Energy in Cold Climates since 2002-, the secretary and O&M manager of the Swedish Wind Energy Coop since 2003-, the chairman of Aapua Vind AB since 2004- and the program coordinator of Winterwind since 2008-.
Charles Godreau
As a specialist in assessing wind turbine performance in cold climates as well as icing detection/protection systems, Charles possesses strong skills in data analysis for operational turbines as well as for developing, planning and implementing research projects.
He has participated in a number of conferences and represents Canada in the International Energy Agency’s Task 19 working group on wind energy in cold climates.
In his free time, he enjoys white water canoe, splitboarding and improv theater.
Sven-Erik Thor
Sven-Erik has a broad knowledge on research and development of wind power within Sweden and in the international market. His career includes; being head of wind RD&D at Vattenfall before his retirement. Participating in a number of EU projects on wind energy. Being a member of EU TpWind Steering Committee and services to the European Commission to evaluate proposals for framework programs. Initiated writings related “cold climate” EU R&D frame work programs. Sven-Erik has also been Operating agent for IEA Task 11 Base Technology Information Exchange.
Holds a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology. Started his career with work on fibre reinforced plastics. That’s how he came to work with wind power.
Alexander Stökl
Alexander Stökl earned his PhD in astrophysics and has worked in this field for many years, mostly on fluid dynamics and numerical methods.
His first occupation in wind energy was from 2010 – 2012, followed by some more years in academia.
In 2018 he has joined Energiewerkstatt e.V. where he is primarily responsible for wind energy research projects and ice-fall related risk assessments.
Apart from cold-climate related topics, Alexander’s research activities include remote sensing techniques where he currently leads an international effort on LIDAR measurements in complex terrain. Along these lines, he is actively participating in IEA Wind Tasks 19 and 32.
Rolv Erlend Bredensen
Rolv Erlend Bredesen holds a M.Sc. in Computational Science and Engineering from the University of Oslo from 2005. In 2004 and 2005 he was an exchange student at the University of Washington, USA studying mesoscale modeling with the WRF model. His main expertise is within fluid mechanics, computer programming, and wind farm development. He has a long experience applying WRF to wind farm development and lately worked extensively with ice risk analyses. He is participating as the Norwegian member in the IEA Task 19 expert group on wind power in cold climates since 2016. This work included creating international guidelines for the safety issue related to ice throw from wind turbines. He has also contributed to the Norwegian national guidelines regarding ice throw previously presented at Winterwind.
He has a permanent position at Kjeller Vindteknikk now a part of Norconsult since 2010.
